Pie Charts
Pie charts are used to show the share of various sectors in the total. They usually show the percentage share of each sector in the whole taken as 100%.
A pie chart is a pictorial representation of the numerical data by non intersecting adjacent sectors of the circle such that area of each sector is proportional to the magnitude of the data represented by the sector.
Note
n Different sectors of a pie chart represent various component parts.
n Each of the component values is expressed either as a percentage of the respective total or as sectorial angle of the respective total.
n Since the angle at the centre of the circle is 360°, the total magnitude of the various components is taken to be equal to 360°.
n 100% = 360° 1% = 3.6°
n The degrees represented by the various components parts of a given magnitude can be obtained without computing their percentage to the total value as follow.
